Welcome to JP Tutor: AI Voice Tutor ("the App"), operated by Iteratori ("we", "us", or "our"). We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we collect, how it is processed, and the measures we take to protect your data.
1. Ephemeral Audio & Speech Data
To provide real-time spoken voice tutoring, the App requests microphone access to capture your speech when you tap the talk button.
- Ephemeral Processing: Audio streams are transmitted over encrypted TLS/WSS connections directly for speech recognition and language tutoring inference.
- No Audio Storage: We do not permanently store, record, or retain your raw voice recordings on our servers.
- No Audio Sales or Profiling: Your audio is never sold to third parties, used for ad tracking, or used to build biometric profiles.
2. Study Data & Local Storage
By default, your learning progress—including vocabulary flashcards, study schedules, and conversation turn logs—is stored locally on your device in your device's secured browser/Capacitor sandbox.
- You have total control over your local data. You can delete individual flashcards or wipe all app data at any time via Settings > Reset App.
- If you choose to use the optional Cloud Backup feature, your data is encrypted using client-side PIN encryption before transmission to the cloud storage service.
3. Diagnostic Logs & Error Reports
When you voluntarily choose to report a bug or request a feature via the in-app Report Issue modal, the following diagnostic data may be submitted:
- Device model, operating system version, and App build version (e.g., v0.1.1).
- Recent client console log entries to assist with debugging.
- Optional screenshots that you explicitly attach.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
The App relies on trusted cloud and AI service providers exclusively for core functionality:
- Google AI / Gemini Live: For multimodal conversational voice tutoring inference.
- Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run): Secure backend orchestration and rate limiting.
- Microsoft Edge Speech: High-resolution 24kHz Japanese neural text-to-speech for flashcard audio.
5. Children's Privacy
JP Tutor is an educational tool intended for general audiences interested in learning Japanese. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
6. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of any cloud backups or diagnostic reports associated with your account. Because no user accounts are required to use the core application, wiping your local app data immediately and permanently removes all your learning records.
